K&J wanted their Downtown Salt Lake engagements to have a romantic and timeless edge to them. We suggested shooting around the Exchange Place area of Downtown Salt Lake, a more historical part of SLC with a lot of character.
When shooting in most urban, central-city locations, we like to schedule the session for sunrise instead of sunset. That way, you can avoid more of the traffic and crowds. As a bonus, you can also catch the softest, glowy morning light. That’s what we did for these Downtown Salt Lake engagements. We started this session at a parking garage overlooking part of Downtown SLC, and then headed to the iconic gold doors on the street below. Believe it or not, even in the middle of all the skyscrapers, we found little pockets of greenery and trees. We made a pit stop at this small urban park. It was like a mini oasis in the midst of the concrete jungle. The contrast between the cityscape and the trees made for some unique shots.
What we love about these city engagement sessions is how they bring out the couple’s style and personality. The city’s energy and the European-inspired architecture have a way of making people forget about the camera. Their dressy outfits were a perfect way to add their own personal touches. Downtown Salt Lake – the perfect location for candid and high-class engagement photos.
